George Barron needs no introduction to those of you who read this magazine on a regular basis. Within this magazine and others we have seen an immense range of stunning, immaculately tied, classic loch-style wet flies that I, like many, could only dream of tying to the same standard.
They not only look great but you know they will catch fish. In his first book, George brings us these flies, along with their tyings and descriptions about their origins and how and when they can be used. Each fly is photographed and placed in the relevant section; flies from the Welsh Hills and Hobblers and Leggy Flies being my two picks of the bunch.
This is a book that is hard to put down if you are obsessed with classic loch-style flies and is one that will sit by my fly-tying table for a good few months to come. This is an excellent book from one the legends in the world of fly fishing and fly tying. One word – quality.
