Carsington Fishing Report

Fishing Report

Week Commencing 1st August 2016

Mr Thompson, 2lbs 5oz rainbow, caught on a olive lure

Slightly cooler weather at the beginning of the week helped to reduce the water temperature slightly but still the fish are reluctant to bite.

Those caught have been found over open water on intermediate and sinking lines.

A distinct lack of insect life at the moment is not helping.

The rod average albeit marginally improved this week.

Rod Average

The rod average for this week was 1.12 with 63 fish caught by 56 anglers.

Best Rainbow/Brown

The heaviest Rainbow was 2lb 12oz caught by Mr Deakin

The heaviest Brown was 2lb 8oz caught by Mr McParlane

Top Spot

The most popular spots have been around buoys 4 & 5, Dam wall and main basin.

Methods & Flies

The most successful patterns were Black & Green Lure, Cats Whisker, pink snakes, Olive Damsel, boobies and crunchers

Intermediate and sinking lines with long leaders have proved the most successful.

It's good to be able to feature those great catches on our weekly reports. We have already received some great shots, thanks to those who have emailed in.
